Structure

V-命令形(五段:え段;一段:去る+ろ;する→しろ;来る→来い)

Explanation

The imperative form of verbs. Godan verbs: change the final u-vowel to e-vowel (e.g. 行く→行け); ichidan verbs: drop る and add ろ (e.g. 食べる→食べろ); する→しろ; 来る→来い. The imperative is blunt and strong, used by men with close acquaintances, by superiors with subordinates, or in emergencies.

早く起きろ!

Get up quickly!

こっちへ来い!

Come here!

Note

The imperative is very strong; use it with care. More polite alternatives: 〜なさい (from a superior) and 〜てください (general).
