Beginner Tips: Romaji Input Techniques

You cannot type ん with a single N, because the IME doesn't know you've finished input. You must press N twice (nn), or N followed by an apostrophe (n').

Ex: 金(きん)= kinn, 大学(だいがく)= daigaku (the n here auto-becomes ん because it's followed by g)

About Japanese Romaji Input

When typing Japanese kana on a standard QWERTY keyboard, the most common method is romaji input. By typing the romanized letter combinations corresponding to each kana, the input method automatically converts them to hiragana or katakana. For example, typing 'ka' produces 'か', and 'shi' produces 'し'. This tool shows the key sequence for each kana on the QWERTY keyboard to help learners quickly master the input method.

Tip: Most kana follow the 'consonant + vowel' rule (e.g., k+a=か). Special kana have their own input patterns: shi (し), chi (ち), tsu (つ), fu (ふ), nn (ん), etc. Combination kana (yoon) are typed with 'consonant + y + vowel', such as kya=きゃ, sha=しゃ, cha=ちゃ.
