Placed at sentence end to indicate a question. The most basic question expression. Also for self-talk (confirmation/exclamation).
Examples
これは何ですか。
What is this?
そうですか。わかりました。
Is that so? I understand.
Note
か is the most basic question particle. In casual speech, plain form+か sounds masculine; women often use の? instead.
