Explanation

Connects two noun predicates using で. で is the conjunctive form of です, joining two clauses into one sentence.

Examples

田中さんは日本人で、会社員です。

Mr. Tanaka is Japanese and is a company employee.

これは私の鞄で、それはあなたの鞄です。

This is my bag and that is your bag.

Note

で connects two noun predicates; it is the conjunctive form of です. Note the difference from verb て-form and adjective て-form.
