V-た形 + 甲斐があって／がある／がない／もなく；N + の + 甲斐
Explanation
Expresses the value or effect of doing something. Attached to the ta-form of verbs or noun + の. 甲斐があって = "the effort paid off"; 甲斐がある = "it is worth doing"; 甲斐がない = "in vain"; 甲斐もなく = "with all effort coming to nothing".
Examples
長い間練習した甲斐があって、やっと試合に勝つことができた。
All my long practice paid off, and I finally won the match.
せっかく準備した甲斐もなく、会議は急に中止になった。
Despite all our preparation, the meeting was suddenly cancelled.
Note
生き甲斐 (ikigai, "reason for living") is a common word. In casual speech やり甲斐がある is also used.
