〜も〜なら〜も〜だ

both... and... (usually both bad) / ...is one thing, ...is another

Structure

N + も + 普通形 + なら + N + も + 普通形

Both the first and second items are in the same (usually negative) state, with a critical tone. Example: 息子も息子なら、親も親だ.

息子も息子なら、親も親だ。

Like father, like son—both are at fault.

店も店なら、客も客だ。

The shop is bad, and so are the customers.

Both items are usually the same kind of word, with a negative evaluation (one is no better than the other). Common in speech.
