Structure
V-使役形（五段：あ段+せる；一段：去る+させる；する→させる；来る→来させる）
Explanation
Expresses making or letting someone do something. Godan verbs: change the final u-vowel to a-vowel and add せる (e.g. 行く→行かせる); ichidan verbs: drop る and add させる (e.g. 食べる→食べさせる); する→させる; 来る→来させる. The causee is marked with に. Godan verbs ending in す take 〜させる (e.g. 話す→話させる).
Examples
母は子供に野菜を食べさせます。
The mother makes her child eat vegetables.
部長は部下に資料をコピーさせました。
The manager had his subordinate copy the documents.
Note
The causee is marked with に (or を with intransitive verbs). させる can also mean "to cause" (e.g., 心配させる). In speech, 〜させてもらう is a polite way to ask for permission.
