Structure
文（普通形） + はずだ；N + の + はずだ
Explanation
Plain verb/adjective + はずだ or noun + の + はずだ indicates an inference based on logic or common sense, "should be...". The negative 〜はずがない means "there's no way...".
Examples
彼は今日、会社に来るはずです。
He should come to the office today.
こんなに難しい問題は、子供にわかるはずがありません。
There's no way a child can understand such a difficult problem.
Note
はずだ emphasizes inference based on evidence; 〜はずがない is a strong negation. Unlike 〜つもりだ, はずだ has no nuance of intention.
