Explanation
Connects clauses for contrast, transition, or preamble. けど = most casual, けれども = most formal, けれど = middle. Also at sentence end for softening.
Examples
昨日は寒かったけど、今日は暖かいです。
It was cold yesterday, but today is warm.
ちょっと聞きたいんですけど、今いいですか。
I'd like to ask something, is now OK?
Note
けど/けれども/が all express contrast. けど is most colloquial. Sentence-end けど softens or trails off.
