Structure
文 + が + 文
Explanation
Connects two clauses indicating contrast or transition. Used at sentence end to soften or omit what follows.
Examples
日本語は難しいですが、面白いです。
Japanese is difficult, but interesting.
すみませんが、駅はどこですか。
Excuse me, where is the station?
Note
が at sentence start does NOT mean "but" (use しかし). At sentence end it softens: ちょっとお願いがあるんですが...
