〜まま（に）
as it is / leaving... as is / in the state of...
Structure
V-た形／ない形 + まま；N + の + まま
Explanation
Keeps the state of the first clause while the main action happens. Attached to the ta-form/nai-form of verbs or noun + の. ままにする = leave as is; ままに = as one pleases.
Examples
帽子をかぶったまま、部屋に入った。
I entered the room with my hat still on.
窓を開けたまま、寝てしまった。
I fell asleep leaving the window open.
Note
Similar to っぱなし but neutral; っぱなし often implies dissatisfaction. Common: 〜ままにしておく (leave as is).
