Structure

V-て形 + もかまわない

Explanation

Attached to the te-form of verbs, 〜てもかまわない means "it doesn't matter if... / you may...". It is more formal and polite than 〜てもいい, used in careful or courteous situations.

Examples

質問があれば、いつでも聞いてもかまいません。

If you have questions, you may ask at any time.

少し遅くなってもかまいません。

It's fine if it's a little late.

Note

〜てもかまわない is more formal than 〜てもいい. It is often used with 〜てもかまいませんか to ask for permission.
