Explanation
V-nai + ずじまいだ: in the end one never got to do it, with regret.
Examples
結局、彼に謝りたくても謝らずじまいだった。
In the end, I never got to apologize to him.
せっかく来たのに、何も買わずじまいで帰った。
I came all the way, but ended up going home without buying anything.
Note
Synonymous with ないで終わった, with regret for not doing something. Often with 結局/せっかく.
