〜きり、〜きりだ
ever since... / only... / and nothing else
Structure
V-た形 + きり（〜ない）；N + きり
Explanation
〜きり means ① "ever since the preceding event, no further event has occurred", often with a negative ending (〜きり〜ない); ② "only", like 〜だけ. Attached to the ta-form of verbs or to nouns. きりだ can end the sentence.
Examples
彼とは十年前に会ったきり、一度も連絡を取っていない。
I haven't been in touch with him since we met ten years ago.
二人きりで話したいことがあります。
There's something I'd like to discuss with just the two of us.
Note
In speech the negative part may be implied (e.g., 家を出たきり、戻ってこない). Don't confuse it with 〜ぎり (限り).
