Structure

V-ます形(語幹)+ 気味;N + 気味

Explanation

Attached to the masu-stem of verbs or to nouns, indicating a slight (usually negative) tendency or feeling. Lighter than 〜がち and refers to a temporary state: 風邪気味, 疲れ気味, 太り気味.

Examples

最近、仕事が忙しくて疲れ気味だ。

I've been feeling a bit tired lately because work is busy.

少し風邪気味なので、今日は早く帰る。

I feel a bit under the weather, so I'll go home early today.

Note

Used only for negative or undesirable states. Compared with 〜がち, 〜気味 is milder and more subjective.
