〜っぽい

Structure

N + っぽい;い形語幹 + っぽい;V-ます形(語幹)+ っぽい

Explanation

Indicates a tendency or appearance of something, with a subjective, slightly negative nuance. Attached to nouns, i-adjective stems, or the masu-stem of verbs: 子供っぽい, 安っぽい, 怒りっぽい.

Examples

彼は子供っぽいところがある。

He has a childish side.

彼女は怒りっぽいので、気をつけて話したほうがいい。

She gets angry easily, so you'd better be careful how you talk to her.

Note

っぽい has a subjective, slightly negative nuance; neutral resemblance uses らしい or ようだ. In speech it can also attach to nouns.
