Structure
V-て形 + からでないと／からでなければ（〜ない）
Explanation
Indicates that unless one first does the first action, the second cannot be done; the main clause is usually negative (〜てからでなければ〜ない).
Examples
医者に相談してからでないと、薬を変えられません。
I can't change the medication without first consulting the doctor.
データを確認してからでなければ、正確なことは言えない。
I can't say anything definite until I've checked the data.
Note
The main clause must be negative (〜ない, 〜できない). Similar to てはじめて, but てからでないと emphasizes the condition more.
