Structure

V-て形 + でも

Explanation

Indicates that one will achieve the goal even by extreme means or at great cost, expressing strong determination. Attached to the te-form of verbs (e.g., 借金してでも、留学したい).

Examples

無理をしてでも、この仕事をやり遂げたい。

Even if it means overworking myself, I want to finish this job.

時間を作ってでも、彼のコンサートに行きたい。

Even if I have to make time, I want to go to his concert.

Note

The main clause expresses strong desire or resolve. Compare with てまで: てでも emphasizes the means to achieve the purpose.
