Structure
普通形 + とか
Explanation
① hearsay ("I heard that..."), more casual than そうだ or ということだ; ② giving examples ("...and so on"). Attached to the plain form of verbs/adjectives or noun + だ.
Examples
山田さんは来月留学するんだとか。
I hear Yamada is going abroad next month.
この辺りは夜になると、治安が悪いとかいう話だ。
They say this area gets unsafe at night.
Note
For hearsay, often with 聞いた or らしい; for listing examples, interchangeable with など. In writing, とのことだ is used.
