〜てたまらない

terribly... / can't bear not to...

Structure

V-て形 + たまらない;い形(くて)+ たまらない

Explanation

Indicates feelings so strong one can hardly bear them, "terribly...". Attaches to the te-form or くて-form.

Examples

故郷の母に会いたくてたまらない。

I can't bear how much I want to see my mother back home.

この仕事がおもしろくてたまらない。

I find this job terribly interesting.

Note

てたまらない stresses feelings too strong to bear, close to てしかたがない/てならない.
