N + ではなく（て）
Explanation
Attached to a noun, 〜ではなく negates the first item and affirms the second, "not... but...". 〜ではなくて is also used. E.g., コーヒーではなく、紅茶にします.
Examples
車ではなく、電車で行きます。
I'll go by train, not by car.
これは私の本ではなく、山田さんの本です。
This is not my book; it's Yamada's.
Note
〜ではなく negates the preceding item, often followed by て/で. 〜ではなくて is more casual. Note the difference from 〜のではなく (negating a whole clause).
